I'm headed out to Ogden, UT this winter to ski. The snow reports from the resorts can sugar coat conditions a bit, so I'm thinking of getting something set up for the skiers. Snow. That's what is important to skiers. How much snow did we get last night? Last week? So far this season? I can do that. I can get an hourly total and keep track of a storm total. And a season total is then easy. We're skiing Powder Mountain and Snowbasin so I'll try to get two feeds for comparison purposes.

Here's where it could get fun. Wind packed powder can be tough to ski, but the large, dry flakes, gently floating down for hours can result in some awesome powder skiing. So a lot of snow is better if there is no wind. A warm, wet snow turns to concrete while a dry snow can be skiable for days.

Stay tuned...

It's a good thing I didn't do this last year. We went to Lake Tahoe and they had no snow for weeks. This thing would have flat lined.
